Suefly ... is My Story.

Hi !   My name is Susan,

I never really learned to "play" when I was a child.  I was raised in a one parent household and the expectation was that we kids would pitch in and do our part of the chores. Not only were we responsible for our homework and keeping our rooms clean, but we were also expected to clean house, do the nightly dishes, help with the laundry, cut the grass and weed the gardens. We were also suppose to get dinner started, but we usually let that slip. So Dad had to cook when he got home from work. Sorry Dad !

My upbringing influenced me to become the task-oriented person I am today.  I never saw playing as a priority.  Even reading for pleasure was difficult for me because I felt like I ought to be doing something else. For me "play" was sewing my clothes for the next school year, or making Christmas presents for everyone in the family. I enjoyed those things and I learned many skills which are useful today; but play for play sake was rare. As an adult, e
mployers love my work ethic, and family knows that messes left long enough I will eventually tackle myself. But I longed for the day when I could feel the freedom to let myself go and just play!!

That's where Suefly became a part of my life. I am a perfectionist, having been taught that "something worth doing is worth doing right."  It wasn't until I had a baby that I learned that play could be fun and freeing. That the rules about the "right and wrong" ways to play, were invalid. And when I set those rules aside, and broke away from the bonds of adult responsibilities, I had fun, I felt good, I could laugh and I felt free. So, to learn to break free from the never ending chores of adulthood, and from the limits of perfectionism has become a life long goal. I've come a long way and the journey continues.

I am now, by the government standards, a senior adult. This opens up an opportunity for something new! With Medicare, I don't need to work to have Health Insurance. However, income is still a necessity. A home business that allows me to teach others and help them to find their creative self, while "playing" myself, sounds like a pretty good deal!  This is what  Suefly has become. Suefly is not only a challenge for me to find creative freedom, but to encourage you in your journey as well.

I invite you to come "play" alongside me.

To learn, to discover new joys, and to make wonderful things!

The joy of creativity is a lifelong gift.

Allow your creative self the time and space to come out and play.

                                                                      ---See you soon!  Sue
